US export sales for week ending 15/02/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 563,800 pieces were more than two and four-fifths times the previous week and 50 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 541,800 pieces were primarily to China (224,500 pieces), South Korea (75,100 pieces), Taiwan (73,300 pieces) and Mexico (49,200 pieces). Exports of 501,600 pieces were 34 per cent above the previous week and 33 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 488,600 pieces were mainly to China (247,400 pieces), South Korea (90,600 pieces), Taiwan (54,800 pieces) and Japan (22,100 pieces).
Net sales of 191,500 wet blues were up 26 per cent from the previous week, but 1 per cent lower than the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for China (79,300 unsplit), Hong Kong (55,900 unsplit), Mexico (26,300 grain splits), the Dominican Republic (10,000 grain splits) and Taiwan (4,800 unsplit). Exports of 183,600 hides were 44 per cent above the previous week and 31 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (85,300 unsplit and 3,500 grain splits), Mexico (27,200 grain splits and 800 unsplit), Italy (24,800 unsplit and 2,000 grain splits), Hong Kong (13,300 unsplit) and the Dominican Republic (12,000 grain splits). Net sales of splits totaling 473,700 pounds were for Italy (880,000 pounds), but were partially offset by decreases for Hong Kong (401,700 pounds) and China (4,700 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 638,700 pounds were 40 per cent above the previous week, but 17 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (286,300 pounds), South Korea (135,000 pounds), China (127,300 pounds) and Italy (90,000 pounds).
