US export sales for week ending 01/02/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 484,700 pieces were 4 per cent above the previous week. Whole cattle hide sales of 485,800 pieces were primarily to China (188,200 pieces), South Korea (82,900 pieces, including 8,100 switched from China), Taiwan (75,700 pieces) and Japan (36,600 pieces). Exports of 462,500 pieces were 31 per cent above the previous week and 24 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 453,400 pieces were primarily to China (211,600 pieces), South Korea (80,300 pieces), Taiwan (50,000 pieces) and Thailand (31,500 pieces).
Net sales of 177,200 wet blues were down 49 per cent from the week earlier. Increases reported for China (67,500 unsplit and 19,300 grain splits), Italy (81,400 unsplit), South Korea (16,200 unsplit), Mexico (11,300 grain splits), the Dominican Republic (10,000 grain splits), and Thailand (4,000 grain splits), were partially offset by decreases for Hong Kong (29,700 unsplit) and Taiwan (4,300 unsplit). Exports of 137,100 hides were 20 per cent below the previous week, but 8 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (45,300 unsplit and 9,600 grain splits), Italy (23,100 unsplit and 2,000 grain splits), Mexico (18,600 grain splits and 2,500 unsplit), Hong Kong (10,200 unsplit) and the Dominican Republic (8,300 grain splits). Net sales of splits totalling 3,682,700 pounds were primarily for Italy (3,150,000 pounds), with smaller amounts for China (264,000 pounds) and Mexico (175,900 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 1,259,400 pounds were up 31 per cent from the week earlier and two and one-fourth times the prior four-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (720,000 pounds), Hong Kong (350,000 pounds) and South Korea (133,900 pounds).
