US export sales for week ending 04/01/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 467,100 pieces were 33 per cent above the previous week. Whole cattle hide sales of 465,100 pieces were mostly to China (205,600 pieces), South Korea (146,300 pieces), Taiwan (30,200 pieces) and Thailand (25,700 pieces). Exports of 351,900 pieces were 10 per cent above the previous week, but 4 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 344,800 pieces were primarily to China (178,400 pieces), South Korea (68,100 pieces), Thailand (26,000 pieces) and Mexico (24,600 pieces).
Net sales of 347,500 wet blues were nearly three and one-half times the week earlier. The primary buyers were Italy (228,900 unsplit), China (69,700 unsplit and 9,000 grain splits), Mexico (16,900 grain splits and 3,800 unsplit) and Hong Kong (10,200 grain splits). Exports of 171,400 hides were 40 per cent above the previous week and 58 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (55,400 unsplit), China (37,500 unsplit and 10,900 grain splits), Mexico (24,400 grain splits and 3,500 unsplit), Taiwan (11,100 unsplit and 1,700 grain splits) and the Dominican Republic (6,900 grain splits). Net sales of splits totalling 134,900 pounds were mostly for Hong Kong (148,000 pounds), but were partially offset by decreases for Italy (11,200 pounds) and South Korea (9,500 pounds). Exports of splits totalling 962,300 pounds were two and two-fifths times the week earlier and nearly double the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Italy (519,800 pounds), South Korea (342,500 pounds) and Hong Kong (100,000 pounds).
