US export sales for week ending 18/01/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 350,400 pieces were 36 per cent below the previous week. Whole cattle hide sales of 346,200 pieces were mainly to China (142,000 pieces), South Korea (95,800 pieces), Taiwan (36,500 pieces), Japan (31,000 pieces), and Thailand (27,700 pieces), but were partially offset by decreases for Hong Kong (23,300 pieces). Exports of 320,400 pieces were 35 per cent below the previous week and 16 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 316,300 pieces were mainly to China (138,100 pieces), South Korea (72,300 pieces), Taiwan (41,100 pieces), Mexico (24,000 pieces) and Japan (16,100 pieces).
Net sales of 100,400 wet blues were 49 per cent below the previous week. The main buyers were Mexico (34,700 grain splits and 1,500 unsplit), China (15,100 unsplit and 7,400 grain splits), Taiwan (12,800 unsplit), Thailand (9,300 grain splits) and the Dominican Republic (6,900 grain splits). Exports of 122,800 hides were 10 per cent above the previous week and 14 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (20,100 unsplit and 13,600 grain splits), Italy (18,000 unsplit), Mexico (15,300 grain splits and 1,900 unsplit), Taiwan (10,400 unsplit and 5,500 grain splits), South Korea (9,400 unsplit and 5,900 grain splits) and Hong Kong (10,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 721,100 pounds were 41 per cent below the previous week. The buyers were Hong Kong (592,000 pounds) and China (132,000 pounds), but were partially offset by decreases for Italy (2,900 pounds). Exports of 400,100 pounds were 25 per cent below the previous week and 43 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Italy (310,100 pounds) and South Korea (90,000 pounds).
