US export sales for week ending 11/01/2007
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 547,800 pieces were 28 per cent above the previous week. Whole cattle hide sales of 539,100 pieces were mainly to China (257,700 pieces, including 5,300 pieces switched from Hong Kong), South Korea (187,900 pieces), Mexico (25,300 pieces), Taiwan (19,700 pieces) and Thailand (18,900 pieces). Exports of 491,100 pieces were 47 per cent above the previous week and 37 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 476,100 pieces were mainly to China (219,200 pieces), South Korea (95,700 pieces), Taiwan (65,500 pieces), Thailand (26,800 pieces) and Mexico (23,500 pieces).
Net sales of 198,600 wet blues were mainly to China (86,300 unsplit), Hong Kong (64,400 unsplit), South Korea (23,500 unsplit), Taiwan (6,600 unsplit and 200 grain splits), the Dominican Republic (4,600 grain splits) and Germany (4,000 grain splits). Exports of 111,300 hides were 11 per cent above the previous week, but 8 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (27,800 unsplit), Hong Kong (24,200 unsplit and 1,700 grain splits), China (21,100 unsplit and 2,000 grain splits), Mexico (6,000 grain splits and 2,000 unsplit) and Thailand (5,500 grain splits). Net sales of splits totaling 1,218,100 pounds were to South Korea (497,300 pounds), Italy (483,300 pounds), Hong Kong (197,900 pounds) and China (39,600 pounds). Exports of 533,800 pounds were 66 per cent above the previous week, but 26 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Italy (265,300 pounds), South Korea (135,000 pounds), China (85,600 pounds) and Hong Kong (47,900 pounds).
