Cattle slaughterings up 8.8% in October
The number of cattle slaughtered in October 2006 was 8.8% higher than in October
2005. A comparison of October 2006 and 2005 figures shows that:
- Sheep slaughterings increased by 1.3%.
- Pig slaughterings increased by 6.1%.
The number of cattle slaughterings in January-October 2006 was 8.6% higher than
the corresponding 2005 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 1.5%
in sheep slaughterings and an increase of 1.5% in pig slaughterings.
