US export sales for week ending 23/11/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 378,400 pieces were 47 per cent under the previous week and 32 per cent lower than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 375,000 pieces were mainly for China (161,000 pieces) and South Korea (102,000 pieces). Whole cattle hide sales of 89,600 pieces for delivery in 2007 were mainly for China (48,900 pieces) and Hong Kong (28,000 pieces). Exports of 340,400 pieces were 31 per cent below the previous week and 28 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 333,900 pieces were primarily for China (162,300 pieces), South Korea (65,700 pieces), Taiwan (36,100 pieces) and Mexico (22,300 pieces).
Net sales of 139,200 wet blues were 51 per cent above the week earlier and 12 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (50,400 unsplit and 3,300 grain splits), Italy (19,800 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (15,600 unsplit and 1,200 grain splits), Hong Kong (14,200 unsplit) and South Korea (13,600 unsplit). Exports of 143,700 hides were 82 per cent above the previous week and 20 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (38,900 unsplit), China (32,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (25,900 unsplit and 1,500 grain splits), Mexico (9,400 grain splits and 1,800 unsplit) and Taiwan (7,900 unsplit and 3,300 grain splits). Net sales of splits totalling 513,700 pounds were 76 per cent below the previous week and 47 per cent lower than the prior 4-week average. Increases for South Korea (270,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (256,200 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (12,500 pounds). Exports of 789,700 pounds were 65 per cent above the week earlier, but 15 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (664,200 pounds) and China (125,500 pounds).
