US export sales for week ending 16/11/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 710,800 pieces were two and two-fifths times the previous week and 40 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 707,900 pieces were mainly for China (249,000 pieces), South Korea (176,500 pieces) and Taiwan (114,400 pieces). Sales of 12,000 pieces for delivery in 2007 were for China. Exports of 490,600 pieces were 7 per cent above the previous week and 2 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 481,000 pieces were primarily for China (226,600 pieces), South Korea (98,400 pieces), Taiwan (41,500 pieces) and Hong Kong (37,500 pieces).
Net sales of 92,200 wet blues were 1 per cent below the week earlier and 32 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (60,000 unsplit and 5,300 grain split), China (31,400 unsplit) and Italy (5,700 unsplit). Exports of 79,100 hides were 38 per cent below the previous week and 48 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (34,700 unsplit), China (23,500 unsplit), Indonesia (9,300 unsplit), Mexico (4,000 grain split and 2,000 unsplit) and Taiwan (4,800 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 2,138,400 pounds were 97 per cent higher than the previous week and nearly four times the prior 4-week average. Net increases for Hong Kong (1,886,100 pounds) and South Korea (258,000 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (5,700 pounds). Exports of 478,400 pounds were 38 per cent below the week earlier and 57 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (396,100 pounds) and China (82,300 pounds).
