US export sales for week ending 26/10/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 496,000 pieces were 6 per cent less than the previous week, but 58 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 492,000 pieces were mainly for China (256,400 pieces), South Korea (94,600 pieces) and Mexico (55,400 pieces). Exports of 494,100 pieces were 8 per cent below the previous week and 6 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 480,500 pieces were primarily for China (240,300 pieces), South Korea (90,600 pieces), Taiwan (41,000 pieces), Hong Kong (23,600 pieces), Japan (22,400 pieces) and Mexico (21,900 pieces).
Net sales of 254,100 wet blues were 89 per cent above the week earlier and two and two-thirds times the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (191,700 unsplit), China (22,800 unsplit and 16,900 grain split) and Hong Kong (10,100 unsplit). Exports of 118,200 hides were 43 per cent below the previous week and 20 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (27,700 unsplit and 3,000 grain split), Italy (23,600 unsplit and 1,800 grain split), China (21,200 unsplit and 6,700 grain split), Mexico (6,600 unsplit and 4,100 grain split) and the Dominican Republic (9,600 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 473,600 pounds were 6 per cent above the previous week, but 53 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The major buyer was South Korea (460,000 pounds). Exports of 1,266,600 pounds were 4 per cent above the week earlier, but 3 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (745,700 pounds), Italy (264,500 pounds), South Korea (135,000 pounds) and Mexico (121,300 pounds).
