US export sales for week ending 05/10/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 102,500 pieces were 69 per cent below the previous week and 78 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 99,200 pieces resulted as major increases for China (37,100 pieces), Japan (22,000 pieces), Mexico (21,000 pieces), Taiwan (20,700 pieces) and Hong Kong (20,200 pieces) were partially offset by decreases for South Korea (53,400 pieces). Exports of 510,500 pieces were 9 per cent below the previous week, but 6 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 503,200 pieces were mainly for China (256,800 pieces), South Korea (92,800 pieces), Taiwan (37,900 pieces), Hong Kong (28,600 pieces) and Mexico (28,200 pieces).
Net sales of 99,600 wet blues were 4 per cent below the week earlier and 7 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (27,500 unsplit and 11,400 grain split), China (25,300 unsplit), South Korea (20,000 unsplit) and Mexico (9,500 grain split and 1,700 unsplit). Exports of 133,800 hides were 1 per cent below the previous week, but 13 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (36,200 unsplit and 1,800 grain split), China (14,600 unsplit and 6,600 grain split), Hong Kong (20,500 unsplit) and South Korea (12,000 unsplit and 1,600 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 1,666,400 pounds improved from the week earlier and were 23 per cent above the prior week 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (870,000 pounds) and Italy (789,700 pounds). Exports of 1,316,400 pounds were 71 per cent above the week earlier and 20 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (648,000 pounds) and Italy (308,700 pounds).
