US export sales for week ending 24/08/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 307,600 pieces were 35 per cent below the previous week and 34 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 298,500 pieces were mainly for South Korea (113,500 pieces), China (90,100 pieces), Taiwan (28,600 pieces) and Hong Kong (20,600 pieces). Exports of 571,200 pieces were 28 per cent above the previous week and 15 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 568,000 pieces were mainly for China (259,100 pieces) and South Korea (126,500 pieces).
Net sales of 145,800 wet blues were up 41 per cent from the week earlier and 68 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (51,000 unsplit), South Korea (25,700 unsplit), China (21,000 unsplit), Mexico (9,600 unsplit and 5,600 grain split), the Dominican Republic (14,000 grain split) and Taiwan (10,800 unsplit). Exports of 116,100 hides were 34 per cent above the previous week and 11 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (27,700 unsplit and 5,300 grain split), Italy (26,900 unsplit), China (10,500 unsplit and 5,900 grain split) and the Dominican Republic (12,000 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 360,000 pounds were 19 per cent below the prior week and 54 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The major buyers were South Korea (225,000 pounds) and Mexico (128,200 pounds). Exports of 1,272,500 pounds were 2 per cent below the week earlier, but 33 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (880,200 pounds), Italy (176,700 pounds), the Dominican Republic (86,300 pounds), Mexico (84,200 pounds) and South Korea (45,000 pounds).
