Cattle slaughterings up 8.3% in July
The number of cattle slaughtered in July 2006 was 8.3% higher than in July 2005.
A comparison of July 2006 and 2005 figures shows that :
The number of cattle slaughterings in January-July 2006 was 12.8% higher than
the corresponding 2005 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 4.0%
in sheep slaughterings and an increase of 0.5% in pig slaughterings.
Between the periods January to April 2005 and 2006, the United Kingdom, Spain
and Greece recorded increases in sheep slaughterings of 6.5%, 2.5% and 0.1%
respectively. France recorded a decrease of 1.4 %.
