US exports sales for week ending 17/08/06
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 473,700 pieces were 2 per cent below the previous week, but 3 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 473,400 pieces were mainly for China (216,300 pieces), South Korea (140,600 pieces), and Japan (33,900 pieces). Exports of 445,600 pieces were 12 per cent below the previous week and 16 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (240,300 pieces), South Korea (81,300 pieces), and Taiwan (34,500 pieces).
Net sales of splits totalling 444,200 pounds improved from the prior week’s low level. The major buyers were Hong Kong (317,700 pounds) and Mexico (131,700 pounds). Exports of 1,302,200 pounds were 52 per cent above the week earlier and 54 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (867,700 pounds), Italy (218,400 pounds), and China (172,400 pounds).
