US export sales for week ending 10/08/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 482,500 pieces were 24 per cent above the previous week and 17 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 482,400 pieces were mainly for China (212,900 pieces), South Korea (132,400 pieces), and Taiwan (72,800 pieces). Exports of 506,200 pieces were 17 per cent above the previous week and equalled the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (262,200 pieces), South Korea (97,300 pieces), Taiwan (42,900 pieces), and Japan (35,300 pieces).
Net sales of 66,800 wet blues were down 20 per cent from the week earlier and 31 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (23,000 unsplit), China (14,700 unsplit and 3,300 grain split), Mexico (7,200 grain split and 1,600 unsplit), and Italy (7,300 unsplit). Exports of 115,500 hides were 10 per cent above the previous week and 8 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (35,500 unsplit), Hong Kong (25,400 unsplit and 6,600 grain split), South Korea (11,800 unsplit and 1,600 grain split), and China (11,700 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 22,600 pounds resulted as increases for Hong Kong (180,100 pounds) and Mexico (44,000 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (201,400 pounds). Exports of 854,800 pounds were more than double the previous week and 3 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (372,100 pounds), Italy (267,900 pounds), and Indonesia (129,000 pounds).
