US export sales for week ending 03/08/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 388,400 pieces were 25 per cent below the previous week and 11 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 381,000 pieces were mainly for China (167,100 pieces), South Korea (55,500 pieces), Taiwan (45,100 pieces), and Mexico (35,800 pieces). Exports of 431,500 pieces—all whole cattle hides—were 29 per cent below the previous week and 16 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (224,400 pieces), South Korea (66,400 pieces), Taiwan (44,800 pieces), Hong Kong (29,100 pieces), and Mexico (28,900 pieces).
Net sales of 83,200 wet blues were down 12 per cent from the week earlier and 10 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (36,900 unsplit), Hong Kong (18,400 unsplit and 400 grain split), and Taiwan (11,700 unsplit). Exports of 104,900 hides were 5 perc ent below the previous week and 1 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (31,300 unsplit and 400 grain split), Italy (27,900 unsplit), South Korea (16,300 unsplit), and China (7,600 unsplit and 3,200 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 2,572,600 pounds improved from the previous week and were 50 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Hong Kong (2,524,700 pounds) was the major buyer. Exports of 412,600 pounds were 67 per cent below the prior week and 46 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (146,700 pounds), Italy (90,000 pounds), and China (85,900 pounds).
