US export sales for week ending 27/07/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 518,800 pieces were 14 per cent above the previous week and 36 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 516,400 pieces were mainly for China (216,600 pieces), South Korea (115,100 pieces), Taiwan (65,700 pieces), and Hong Kong (54,000 pieces). Exports of 603,700 pieces were 3 per cent above the previous week and 28 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 595,900 pieces were mainly for China (323,900 pieces), South Korea (117,600 pieces), Taiwan (60,300 pieces), and Japan (40,400 pieces).
Net sales of 94,200 wet blues were down 14 per cent from the week earlier, but up 13 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (24,700 unsplit and 11,000 grain split), Hong Kong (20,400 unsplit and 3,900 grain split), and Taiwan (16,600 grain split). Exports of 110,800 hides were 8 per cent below the previous week, but 6 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (33,300 unsplit and 3,200 grain split), Italy (23,100 unsplit), and South Korea (19,400 unsplit and 1,300 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 109,100 pounds fell 97 per cent from the previous week’s marketing-year high and 94 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Increases for Hong Kong (114,800 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for Italy (3,300 pounds) and China (1,200 pounds). Exports of 1,257,200 pounds were 48 per cent above the previous week and 76 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The major destinations were Hong Kong (909,800 pounds) and Italy (218,700 pounds).
