US export sales for week ending 20/07/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 453,700 pieces were 54 per cent above the previous week and 22 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 451,400 pieces were mainly for China (191,800 pieces), South Korea (80,900 pieces), Mexico (52,900 pieces), and Taiwan (40,200 pieces). Exports of 586,900 pieces were 50 per cent above the previous week and 25 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 578,300 pieces were mainly for China (307,400 pieces), South Korea (96,700 pieces), Taiwan (50,200 pieces), Mexico (42,300 pieces), and Japan (41,700 pieces).
Net sales of 109,900 wet blues were up 11 per cent from the week earlier and 52 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (42,800 unsplit), Hong Kong (14,900 unsplit), Mexico (10,700 grain split and 3,100 unsplit), and Thailand (10,900 grain split and 1,100 unsplit). Exports of 120,000 hides were 31 per cent above the previous week and 19 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (29,800 unsplit and 2,600 grain split), Italy (18,900 unsplit), and South Korea (15,000 unsplit and 2,300 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 3,873,200 pounds—a marketing-year high—were mainly for Italy (3,150,000 pounds) and China (522,100 pounds). Exports of 850,200 pounds were 8 per cent above the prior week and 14 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The major destinations were China (346,100 pounds) and Hong Kong (290,300 pounds).
