US export sales for week ending 01/07/06
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 473,000 pieces were 56 per cent above the previous week and 16 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 471,100 pieces were mainly for China (257,300 pieces), South Korea (63,500 pieces), Taiwan (56,900 pieces) and Japan (45,400 pieces). Exports of 460,300 pieces were 3 per cent above the previous week, but 12 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 454,900 pieces were mainly for China (200,000 pieces), South Korea (98,300 pieces), Japan (46,000 pieces) and Taiwan (43,700 pieces).
Net sales of 66,100 wet blues were 11 per cent above the week earlier, but 71 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (33,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (20,800 unsplit) and the Dominican Republic (6,000 grain split). Exports of 102,400 hides were 3 per cent below the previous week and 2 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (26,400 unsplit and 3,200 grain split), Italy (18,900 unsplit), China (12,500 unsplit) and South Korea (11,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 2,263,600 pounds were mainly for China (1,056,000 pounds), Hong Kong (547,600 pounds), and Italy (528,000 pounds). Exports of 171,600 pounds—a marketing-year low—were 84 per cent below the week earlier and 82 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (129,600 pounds) and Indonesia (42,000 pounds).
