US export sales for week ending 01/06/06
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 410,700 pieces were down 12 per cent from the previous week and 26 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 416,100 pieces were mainly for China (242,100 pieces), Mexico (40,700 pieces), and Taiwan (36,700 pieces). Exports of 362,500 pieces were 32 per cent below the previous week and 26 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 355,000 pieces were primarily for China (169,600 pieces), South Korea (85,200 pieces), and Taiwan (25,100 pieces).
Net sales of 54,100 wet blues were 66 per cent below the prior week and 52 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were South Korea (13,700 grain split), Thailand (8,400 grain split), Mexico (4,000 grain split and 3,800 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (7,600 grain split), and Hong Kong (7,300 unsplit). Exports of 112,000 hides were 5 per cent short of the previous week and 1 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (44,900 unsplit and 3,000 grain split), Italy (15,700 unsplit), China (15,600 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (7,400 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 2,289,800 pounds were two and four-fifths times the previous week and three times the prior 4-week average. The major buyers were Hong Kong (1,499,200 pounds) and Italy (658,200 pounds). Exports of 717,800 pounds were 5 per cent below the week earlier and 11 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were China (308,400 pounds), Italy (266,200 pounds), and Hong Kong (143,200 pounds).
