US Export sales for week ending 18/05/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 593,700 pieces were up 2 per cent from the previous week, but 6 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 609,500 pieces were mainly for China (414,400 pieces), South Korea (76,600 pieces), Taiwan (48,600 pieces), Japan (24,300 pieces), and Mexico (22,100 pieces). Exports of 452,700 pieces were 19 percent below the previous week and 5 percent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 442,000 pieces were primarily for China (206,900 pieces), South Korea (93,100 pieces), and Taiwan (46,200 pieces).
Net sales of 41,800 wet blues were mainly for Hong Kong (15,700 unsplit and 300 grain split), Mexico (10,500 unsplit and 4,900 grain split), and the Dominican Republic (10,000 grain split). Exports of 98,500 hides were 13 per cent below the previous week and 19 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (22,200 unsplit and 9,900 grain split), Italy (18,900 unsplit), China (10,000 unsplit and 4,200 grain split), and Mexico (6,400 grain split and 5,700 unsplit).
Net sales reductions of splits totalling 16,700 pounds were mainly for Hong Kong (12,400 pounds). Exports of 956,300 pounds were 1 percent below the week earlier, but 5 percent over the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (387,600 pounds), Italy (306,800 pounds), and China (261,900 pounds).
