US export sales for week ending 11/05/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 582,800 pieces were up 3 per cent from the previous week, but 1 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 580,300 pieces were mainly for China (346,800 pieces), Taiwan (68,300 pieces), South Korea (62,300 pieces), and Japan (49,000 pieces). Exports of 558,100 pieces were 32 per cent above the previous week and 22 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 551,200 pieces-a marketing-year high-were primarily for China (273,100 pieces), South Korea (118,600 pieces), and Taiwan (75,500 pieces).
Net sales reductions of 348,800 wet blues resulted as increases for Hong Kong (45,100 unsplit), Italy (26,700 unsplit), and South Korea (9,600 unsplit) were more than offset by decreases for China (225,300 grain split) and Italy (225,000 grain split). Exports of 113,700 hides were 7 per cent below the previous week and 3 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (24,500 unsplit), Hong Kong (19,000 unsplit and 1,600 grain split), Taiwan (12,900 unsplit and 1,800 grain split), the Dominican Republic (13,400 grain split), and China (12,400 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 511,900 pounds were 70 per cent below the previous week and 36 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The major buyers were China (225,000 pounds) and Italy (220,900 pounds). Exports of 968,900 pounds were 78 per cent above the week earlier, but 2 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The major destinations were Hong Kong (615,700 pounds) and Italy (215,900 pounds). Note: Sales of 225,000 grain splits each for China and Italy were switched to wet blue splits to correct reporting errors from the previous week.
