US Export sales for week ending 04/05/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 564,700 pieces were down 5 per cent from the previous week and 6 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 560,900 pieces were mainly for China (209,400 pieces), South Korea (178,300 pieces), Thailand (51,500 pieces), and Taiwan (46,200 pieces). Exports of 422,700 pieces were 12 per cent below the previous week and 10 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 418,900 pieces were primarily for China (189,500 pieces), South Korea (63,100 pieces), Taiwan (59,000 pieces), and Mexico (35,400 pieces).
Net sales of 602,700 wet blues were improved from the prior week’s level. The primary buyers were Italy (225,000 grain split and 22,100 unsplit), China (224,200 grain split and 22,200 unsplit), and South Korea (40,700 unsplit). Exports of 122,000 hides were 11 per cent below the previous week, but 9 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (28,200 unsplit and 5,700 grain split), Italy (29,400 unsplit), China (16,900 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (14,000 grain split).
Net sales of splits totalling 1,723,800 pounds improved from the previous week’s low level. The major buyer was Hong Kong (1,636,000 pounds). Exports of 545,700 pounds were 58 per cent below the week earlier and 53 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (370,900 pounds), Italy (87,500 pounds), and China (87,300 pounds).
