US export sales for week ending 27/04/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 596,700 pieces were down 24 per cent from the previous week and 3 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 549,300 pieces were mainly for China (216,100 pieces), South Korea (123,100 pieces), and Japan (77,800 pieces). Exports of 479,100 pieces were 7 per cent above the previous week and 2 percent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 464,700 pieces were primarily for China (216,300 pieces), South Korea (107,100 pieces), and Taiwan (45,300 pieces).
Net sales of 114,100 wet blues were 23 per cent below the previous week, but 11 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (29,200 unsplit and 11,800 grain split), China (24,000 grain split), Mexico (11,600 unsplit and 7,200 grain split), and the Dominican Republic (14,000 grain split). Exports of 136,700 hides were 17 per cent above the previous week and 27 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (39,400 unsplit and 5,400 grain split), Italy (25,600 unsplit and 2,000 grain split), Thailand (8,700 grain split and 6,100 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (12,800 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 123,000 pounds resulted as increases for Indonesia (176,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (88,500 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (140,700 pounds). Exports of 1,301,000 pounds were 60 per cent above the week earlier and 21 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (568,300 pounds), Italy (355,100 pounds), and Hong Kong (332,500 pounds).
