US Export Sales for Week Ending 06/04/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 620,500 pieces were down 3 per cent from the previous week, but up 8 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 613,100 pieces were mainly for China (296,700 pieces), Taiwan (84,500 pieces), South Korea (83,000 pieces), and Hong Kong (64,000 pieces). Exports of 469,200 pieces were 2 per cent below the previous week and equal to the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 465,100 pieces were primarily for China (215,600 pieces) and South Korea (96,600 pieces).
Net sales of 90,400 wet blues were 3 per cent above the previous week, but 22 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (31,700 unsplit and 4,600 grain split), Italy (25,600 unsplit), Indonesia (16,000 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (12,000 grain split). Reductions of 19,000 unsplit were reported for South Korea. Exports of 101,000 hides were 17 per cent under the previous week and the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (34,100 unsplit and 3,600 grain split), the Dominican Republic (16,100 grain split), Italy (13,400 unsplit), China (8,700 unsplit and 1,000 grain split), and South Korea (8,500 unsplit).
Net sales of splits totalling 1,401,400 pounds were more than double the previous week and 59 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The buyers were China (745,800 pounds), Hong Kong (561,600 pounds), and Indonesia (94,000 pounds). Exports of 1,241,500 pounds were 30 per cent above the week earlier and 25 per cent over the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (842,600 pounds), China (263,800 pounds), and Italy (135,000 pounds).
