US Export sales for week ending 30/03/2006
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 642,600 pieces were up 10 per cent from the previous week and 5 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 639,000 pieces were mainly for China (222,500 pieces), South Korea (129,400 pieces), Taiwan (129,000 pieces), and Hong Kong (53,600 pieces). Exports of 478,500 pieces were up 11 per cent from the previous week and 3 per cent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 467,400 pieces were primarily for China (241,700 pieces), South Korea (94,300 pieces), and Taiwan (50,500 pieces).
Net sales of 87,700 wet blues were 42 per cent under the previous week and 31 per cent below the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were South Korea (24,000 unsplit and 3,200 grain split), Hong Kong (23,600 unsplit and 2,200 grain split), Thailand (16,000 unsplit and 6,600 grain split), and the Dominican Republic (12,000 grain split). Reductions of 10,000 unsplit were reported for Taiwan. Exports of 122,100 hides were 15 per cent under the previous week, but 8 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (49,000 unsplit), China (17,400 unsplit and 4,300 grain split), Italy (15,900 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (10,000 grain split).
Net sales of splits totalling 673,800 pounds were 65 per cent above the previous week, but 21 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Increases for Hong Kong (536,900 pounds), Taiwan (100,000 pounds), and China (83,300 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for Mexico (44,600 pounds). Exports of 956,800 pounds were 26 per cent below the previous week and 11 per cent less than the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (439,300 pounds) and Hong Kong (430,900 pounds).
