US Export sales for week ending 19/01/2006
Net sales of 553,000 pieces were 21 per cent below the previous week. Whole cattle hide sales of 531,200 pieces were mainly for China (209,800 pieces), South Korea (175,300 pieces), Hong Kong (54,300 pieces), and Mexico (40,000 pieces). Exports of 386,600 pieces were 14 percent below the previous week, but 3 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 379,200 pieces were primarily for China (154,500 pieces) and South Korea (123,500 pieces).
Net sales of 94,400 wet blues were 13 per cent below the previous week. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (9,100 unsplit and 8,500 grain split), Mexico (12,500 unsplit and 2,600 grain split), China (10,200 unsplit and 4,800 grain split), South Korea (14,400 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (10,000 grain split), and Taiwan (2,600 unsplit and 6,100 grain split). Exports of 85,300 hides were 19 per cent below the previous week, but 27 per cent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (28,700 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (10,000 grain split), Italy (6,100 unsplit and 3,900 grain split), China (9,300 unsplit), and Mexico (4,900 unsplit and 4,800 grain split).
Net sales of splits totalling 1,525,000 pounds were much improved from the previous week. The major buyers were China (851,900 pounds), Hong Kong (507,100 pounds), and Mexico (169,700 pounds). Exports of 2,160,300 pounds were 87 percent above the previous week and two and one-fifth times the prior 4-week average. The destinations were China (1,027,900 pounds), Hong Kong (959,100 pounds), and Italy (173,300 pounds).
