Cattle slaughterings down 15.9% in October
The number of cattle slaughtered in October 2005 was 15.9% lower than in
October 2004. A comparison of October 2005 and 2004 figures shows that:
_ Sheep slaughterings decreased by 3.9%.
_ Pig slaughterings decreased by 1.7%.
The number of sheep slaughterings in January-October 2005 was 1.7% higher than the corresponding 2004 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 7.1% in cattle slaughterings, while pig slaughterings decreased by 2.4%.
EU-15 pig slaughtering figures between the periods January to July 2004 and 2005 decreased by 1.1%.
