Hides and Skins: Net sales of 181,200 pieces were 57 per cent below the previous week and 43 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 190,300 pieces were mainly for China (85,400 pieces), South Korea (37,900 pieces), and Mexico (30,700 pieces). Net sales of 251,400 pieces for delivery in the 2006 marketing year (which begins January 1) were mainly for China (121,900 pieces) and South Korea (83,200 pieces). Exports of 443,000 pieces were 15 per cent below the prior week, but 3 per cent above the previous 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 434,000 pieces were primarily for China (181,000 pieces) and South Korea (121,100 pieces).

Net sales reductions of 100,600 wet blues were much below the week earlier and the prior 4-week average as sales were switched for delivery into 2006. Major decreases were reported for China (32,800 unsplit), Thailand (16,800 grain split and 7,500 unsplit), South Korea (12,400 unsplit), Taiwan (9,500 unsplit), and Indonesia (9,500 unsplit). Net sales of 203,500 pieces for delivery in 2006 were mainly for Hong Kong (41,700 unsplit and 5,200 grain split), China (46,400 unsplit), Thailand (20,700 grain split and 7,500 unsplit), Italy (18,200 grain split and 6,100 unsplit), Mexico (7,900 grain split and 7,000 unsplit), and South Korea (13,000 unsplit). Exports of 86,000 hides were 24 per cent above the prior week, but 11 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The major destinations were China (22,300 unsplit), Hong Kong (14,500 unsplit), South Korea (11,200 unsplit), and Italy (11,100 unsplit).

Net sales of splits totalling 683,500 pounds were much improved from the week earlier, but down 57 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases for Italy (812,000 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for Hong Kong (125,000 pounds). Net sales of 4,656,000 pounds for delivery in 2006 were for Hong Kong (2,148,000 pounds), China (1,892,000 pounds), and Italy (616,000 pounds). Exports of 291,500 pounds were 70 per cent below the week earlier and 65 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The destinations were China (141,500 pounds), Hong Kong (100,000 pounds), and Taiwan (50,000 pounds).
