U.S. export sales for week ending 12/1/2005
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 425,800 pieces were 57% above the previous week and 24% over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 417,100 pieces were mainly for China (181,800 pieces), Hong Kong (83,000 pieces), and South Korea (55,200 pieces). Net sales of 132,900 pieces for delivery in the 2006 marketing year (which begins Jan. 1) were mainly for South Korea (97,700 pieces). Exports of 519,300 pieces were 26% above the prior week and 25% over the previous 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 514,400 pieces were primarily for China (246,000 pieces), South Korea (94,600 pieces), and Taiwan (54,500 pieces).
Net sales of 66,800 wet blues were two and two-fifths times the week earlier, but 20% under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (27,600 unsplit), China (18,400 unsplit), South Korea (11,900 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (5,900 grain split). Exports of 69,200 hides were 23% below the prior week and 32 percent under the previous 4-week average. The major destinations were Hong Kong (16,900 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (14,800 grain split and 2,500 unsplit), Italy (14,700 unsplit), Mexico (4,000 unsplit and 3,200 grain split), and Indonesia (6,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 173,700 pounds were 88% below the week earlier and 89% under the prior 4-week average. Increases for Hong Kong (184,300 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (8,800 pounds). Exports of 973,000 pounds were 67% above the week earlier and 44% over the previous 4-week average. The destinations were China (381,500 pounds), Hong Kong (368,100 pounds), and Mexico (133,400 pounds).
