Hides and Skins: Net sales of 271,300 pieces were 1 per cent short of the previous week and 29 per cent below the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 263,100 pieces were mainly for China (140,000 pieces), South Korea (59,400 pieces), and Japan (23,800 pieces). Net sales of 109,100 pieces for delivery in 2006 were mainly for Taiwan (51,200 pieces), South Korea (41,900 pieces), and China (14,800 pieces). Exports of 411,300 pieces were 13 per cent above the prior week, but 5 per cent below the previous 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 399,200 pieces were primarily for China (153,800 pieces), South Korea (120,400 pieces), Taiwan (37,600 pieces), and Mexico (28,200 pieces).

Net sales of 28,200 wet blues were 62 per cent below the week earlier and 69 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were the Dominican Republic (12,000 grain split), Hong Kong (10,900 unsplit), South Korea (5,500 unsplit), and Mexico (5,300 grain split). Reductions were reported for Italy (10,800 unsplit). Net sales of 14,600 wet blues for delivery in 2006 were for Italy (12,600 unsplit) and India (2,000 unsplit). Exports of 89,800 hides were 16 per cent below the prior week and 15 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The major destinations were South Korea (10,100 unsplit and 8,500 grain split), Hong Kong (17,000 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (12,000 grain split and 800 unsplit), China (11,400 unsplit), and Italy (9,900 unsplit).

Net sales of splits totalling 1,480,200 pounds were 25 per cent above the week earlier and equaled the prior 4-week average. The buyers were China (1,047,200 pounds), Italy (270,000 pounds), Indonesia (90,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (73,000 pounds). Exports of 583,000 pounds were 31 per cent under the week earlier and 39 per cent below the previous 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (336,500 pounds) and China (246,500 pounds).
