Hides and Skins: Net sales of 275,200 pieces were 9 per cent below the previous week and 37 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 255,300 pieces were mainly for South Korea (101,200 pieces), China (84,800 pieces), and Japan (31,700 pieces). Net sales of 54,700 pieces for delivery in 2006 were mainly for China (30,300 pieces) and Taiwan (12,900 pieces). Exports of 364,500 pieces were 14 per cent below the prior week and 20 per cent less than the previous 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 357,900 pieces were primarily for China (191,100 pieces), South Korea (73,000 pieces), Mexico (23,600 pieces), Taiwan (20,700 pieces), and Hong Kong (18,900 pieces).

Net sales of 73,900 wet blues were 44 per cent below the week earlier and 23 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (20,800 unsplit), Hong Kong (12,100 unsplit and 1,300 grain split), Indonesia (12,500 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (12,000 grain split). Net sales of 67,500 wet blues for delivery in 2006 were for Taiwan (32,000 unsplit), Italy (25,700 unsplit), and Hong Kong (9,800 unsplit). Exports of 107,500 hides were 11 per cent below the prior week, but 8 per cent higher than the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (26,400 unsplit), Hong Kong (21,400 unsplit), China (20,300 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (13,400 grain split and 1,600 unsplit).

Net sales of splits totalling 1,182,300 pounds were 67 per cent less than the week earlier and 30 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Italy (528,000 pounds), China (426,900 pounds), Mexico (177,300 pounds), and Hong Kong (50,100 pounds). Exports of 846,800 pounds were 7 per cent under the week earlier and 21 per cent below the previous 4-week average. The destinations were China (440,300 pounds), Hong Kong (275,900 pounds), and Mexico (130,500 pounds).
