US export sales for week ending 19/05/2005
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 427,400 pieces were 17 per cent above the previous week, but 12 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 403,400 pieces were mainly for China (128,900 pieces), South Korea (99,100 pieces), Taiwan (50,700 pieces), Mexico (42,000 pieces), and Hong Kong (38,100 pieces). Exports of 526,600 pieces were 14 per cent above the previous week and 19 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 495,100 pieces were mainly for China (196,400 pieces), South Korea (116,900 pieces), and Taiwan (58,800 pieces).
Net sales of 90,900 wet blues were 30 per cent below the previous week and 6 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were South Korea (29,600 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (19,300 grain split and 1,500 unsplit), Italy (8,800 unsplit and 8,600 grain split), and Mexico (10,900 grain split and 900 unsplit). Exports of 105,800 hides were 11 per cent below the prior week and 5 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (21,600 unsplit and 4,700 grain split), Italy (23,300 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (18,000 grain split), and Taiwan (11,000 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 2,505,000 pounds were much improved from the previous week and the prior 4-week average. Major increases were reported for Hong Kong (1,764,300 pounds) and China (691,200 pounds). Exports of 982,400 pounds were 19 per cent below the previous week and 47 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (482,500 pounds) and Hong Kong (406,700 pounds).
