US export sales for week ending 21/04/2005

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 630,600 pieces were 5 per cent higher than the previous week and 25 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 600,900 pieces were mainly for China (219,100 pieces) and South Korea (133,700 pieces). Exports of 431,200 pieces were 4 per cent below the previous week and 7 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 398,700 pieces were mainly for China (176,300 pieces) and South Korea (88,200 pieces).   

Net sales of 89,800 wet blues were 48 per cent below the previous week and 38 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (16,900 unsplit and 4,700 grain split), Taiwan (11,500 unsplit and 7,000 grain split), the Dominican Republic (17,400 grain split), Indonesia (16,600 unsplit), and Mexico (8,900 unsplit and 4,000 grain split). Exports of 93,300 hides were 25 per cent below the prior week and 19 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (26,400 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (18,700 grain split), and Hong Kong (15,300 unsplit). 

Net sales of splits totalling 580,900 pounds were 29 per cent less than the previous week and 62 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Major increases for South Korea (500,000 pounds) and Hong Kong (468,300 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for China (334,800 pounds). Exports of 2,333,200 pounds were 8 per cent below the previous week, but 26 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (884,500 pounds), China (774,000 pounds), Italy (424,700 pounds), and South Korea (250,000 pounds).
