Cattle slaughterings down 1.1% in February
The number of cattle slaughtered in February 2005 was 1.1% lower than in
February 2004.
A comparison of February 2005 and 2004 figures shows that :-
Sheep slaughterings increased by 24.2%.-
Pig slaughterings decreased by 0.7%. See graph.The number of sheep slaughterings in January-February 2005 was 13.2% higher than the corresponding 2004 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 20.9% in cattle slaughterings, while pig slaughterings decreased by 10.9%.
EU-15 pig slaughtering figures between the periods January to October 2003 and
2004 increased marginally. Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark recorded increases of 2.5%, 2.1% and 0.9% respectively. Spain and France recorded decreases of 1.2% and 0.6%.
