U.S. export sales for week ending 07/04/2005
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 419,400 pieces were 20 per cent below the previous week and 14 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 393,400 pieces were mainly for China (146,900 pieces) and South Korea (129,400 pieces). Exports of 449,700 pieces were 4 per cent lower than the previous week, but 3 perc ent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 407,000 pieces were mainly for China (161,600 pieces) and South Korea (114,500 pieces).
Net sales of 64,800 wet blues were 40 per cent below the previous week and 53 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (18,900 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (16,000 grain split), and Taiwan (16,000 unsplit). Exports of 99,200 hides were 1 per cent below the prior week and 35 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (23,500 unsplit), Italy (23,000 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (16,000 grain split), and Taiwan (11,300 unsplit).
Net sales of splits totalling 705,100 pounds--a marketing-year low--were 72 per cent below the previous week and 63 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The buyers were Hong Kong (505,100 pounds) and China (200,000 pounds). Exports of 1,203,100 pounds were down 25 per cent from the previous week and 12 per cent lower than the prior 4-week average. The main destinations were Hong Kong (685,100 pounds), South Korea (250,000 pounds), and Italy (225,000 pounds).
