US export sales for week ending 31/03/2005

hides and Skins:  Net sales of 526,300 pieces were 12 per cent above the previous week and 7 per cent over the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 511,500 pieces were mainly for China (222,200 pieces) and South Korea (130,500 pieces).  Exports of 466,900 pieces were 6 per cent lower than the previous week, but 6 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 445,100 pieces were mainly for China (191,500 pieces) and South Korea (112,000 pieces).   

Net sales of 108,200 wet blues were 54 per cent below the previous week and 29 per cent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (48,000 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (16,000 grain split), China (15,300 unsplit), and Taiwan (10,700 unsplit).  Exports of 99,800 hides were 27 per cent below the prior week and 36 per cent under the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (30,400 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (16,000 grain split), China (13,800 unsplit and 2,700 grain split), Italy (11,300 unsplit), and South Korea (10,500 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 2,525,800 pounds were 24 per cent above the previous week and 62 per cent higher than the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (1,680,300 pounds), South Korea (500,000 pounds), and China (352,000 pounds). Exports of 1,613,600 pounds were down 23 per cent from the previous week, but up 26 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The main destinations were Hong Kong (707,900 pounds), Italy (610,600 pounds), and South Korea (250,000 pounds).
