US export sales for week ending 17/03/2005
Hides and Skins: Net sales of 473,600 pieces were 1 per cent above the previous week and 6 per cent over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 443,300 pieces were mainly for China (168,100 pieces) and South Korea (136,300 pieces). Exports of 403,700 pieces were 4 per cent above the previous week, but 6 per cent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 378,900 pieces were mainly for China (163,400 pieces), South Korea (131,000 pieces), and Mexico (21,800 pieces).
Net sales of 60,500 wet blues were 59 per cent below the previous week and 52 per cent less than the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Taiwan (16,600 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (14,100 grain split), and Italy (12,400 unsplit). Exports of 179,800 hides were 7 per cent below the prior week, but 51 per cent above the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (84,300 unsplit), Hong Kong (39,400 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (19,300 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 1,354,400 pounds were 22 per cent below the previous week and 10 per cent less than the prior 4-week average. The buyers were Hong Kong (680,000 pounds) and Italy (674,300 pounds). Exports of 563,400 pounds--a marketing-year low- were 55 per cent below the previous week and 53 per cent under the prior 4-week average. The destinations were Hong Kong (340,000 pounds) and Italy (223,300 pounds).
