US export sales for week ending 06/01/2005
Hides and Skins: Net sales for the 2005 marketing year (which began January 1) totalled 1,010,100 pieces, including 989,200 pieces of whole cattle hides. The major buyers of whole cattle hides were China (577,600 pieces), South Korea (145,400 pieces), Mexico (118,300 pieces), and Taiwan (70,600 pieces). Sales of 2,956,200 pieces, including 2,832,700 pieces of whole cattle hides, were outstanding on December 31 and carried over to the 2005 marketing year. Exports of 170,000 pieces (of which whole cattle hides were 117,300 pieces) were reported for December 31, with China (46,400 pieces) and South Korea (23,100 pieces) the main destinations. Accumulated exports of hides and skins were 25,024,400 pieces, down 3 per cent from the prior year’s total of 25,707,900 pieces. Exports for January 1-6 were 281,800 pieces, including 260,700 pieces of whole cattle hides, with South Korea (111,400 pieces) and China (62,700 pieces) the primary destinations.
Net sales of wet blues for the 2005 marketing year (which began January 1) totalled 73,700 hides. The main buyers were Hong Kong (55,000 unsplit) and Taiwan (8,200 unsplit). A total of 543,200 hides were outstanding on December 31 and carried over to the 2005 marketing year. Exports of 3,600 hides--all to Thailand--were reported for December 31, bringing accumulated exports of wet blues to 5,171,700 hides, up 10 per cent from 4,704,400 hides exported during the 2004 marketing year. Exports for January 1-6 were 43,600 hides with Italy (20,900 unsplit), Hong Kong (11,100 unsplit and 200 grain split), and Taiwan (6,700 unsplit) the primary destinations. Net sales of splits totalling 829,900 pounds for the 2005 marketing year were mainly for Hong Kong (396,000 pounds) and China (238,600 pounds). A total of 17,298,100 pounds were outstanding on December 31 and carried over to the 2005 marketing year. Exports of 90,900 pounds--all to South Korea--were reported for Dec. 31, bringing accumulated exports of splits to 82,404,100 pounds, up 1 per cent from the prior year’s total of 81,683,700 pounds. Exports of 1,172,700 pounds were reported for January 1-6 with Italy (649,400 pounds), China (285,400 pounds), and Indonesia (143,000 pounds) the main destinations.
