The number of cattle slaughtered in July 2004 was 11.0% lower than in July 2003.
A comparison of July 2004 and 2003 figures shows that Sheep slaughterings increased by 3.4%.
Pig slaughterings decreased by 28.0% The number of sheep slaughterings in January-July 2004 was 6.3% higher than the corresponding 2003 figure. Over the same period there was a decrease of 7.1% in cattle slaughterings, while pig slaughterings also decreased by 9.2%.
EU pig slaughtering figures between the periods January to March 2003 and 2004 increased by 2.1%.
