US EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 22/07/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 545,900 pieces were 38 percent above the previous week and 27 percent more than the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 540,900 pieces were primarily for China (147,900 pieces) and South Korea (144,500 pieces).  Exports of 464,400 pieces were down 7 percent from the previous week and 3 percent below the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 457,000 pieces were mainly for South Korea (144,400 pieces), China (105,400 pieces), and Taiwan (73,500 pieces).   

Net sales of 99,200 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 31 percent below the previous week and 8 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Italy (33,600 unsplit), Hong Kong (33,100 unsplit and 1,300 grain split), and Taiwan (12,500 unsplit).  Exports of 111,100 hides were 21 percent below the previous week, but 3 percent above the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (40,900 unsplit and 1,800 grain split), Italy (25,500 unsplit), and Taiwan (21,300 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totaling 485,800 pounds were 70 percent below the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  The major buyers were Mexico (254,500 pounds), Hong Kong (97,300 pounds), and South Korea (90,000 pounds).  Exports of 1,367,400 pounds were down 9 percent from the previous week and 14 percent below the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Hong Kong (762,900 pounds), Mexico (469,500 pounds), and China (135,000 pounds).
