US export sales for week ending 08/07/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 371,300 pieces were 12 percent below the previous week and 25 percent under the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 369,600 pieces were primarily for South Korea (185,600 pieces) and Taiwan (66,300 pieces).  Exports of 450,800 pieces were down 9 percent from the previous week and 17 percent below the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 438,000 pieces were mainly for China (122,900 pieces) and South Korea (105,800 pieces).   

 

Net sales of 93,500 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 16 percent above the previous week, but 23 percent below the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were Hong Kong (48,600 unsplit and 5,400 grain split), South Korea (15,600 unsplit), and Taiwan (10,200 unsplit).  Exports of 69,200 hides were 45 percent below the previous week and 47 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (23,000 unsplit and 3,600 grain split) and Taiwan (17,500 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totaling 1,485,500 pounds were 30 percent above the previous week, but 35 percent lower than the prior 4-week average.  The buyers were China (940,000 pounds), Mexico (355,000 pounds), and Hong Kong (190,600 pounds).  Exports of 816,400 pounds were down 62 percent from the previous week and 58 percent below the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Hong Kong (560,700 pounds), China (175,000 pounds), and Mexico (80,700 pounds).
