Hides and Skins: Net sales of 524,500 pieces were 11% below the previous week, but 21% over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 506,500 pieces were primarily for South Korea (163,300 pieces), China (150,300 pieces), and Hong Kong (105,000 pieces). Exports of 473,000 pieces were down 27% from the previous week and 11% from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 447,500 pieces were mainly for China (181,200 pieces), South Korea (106,700 pieces), and Taiwan (45,200 pieces).
Net sales of 114,500 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 8% lower than the previous week and 14% below the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (54,800 unsplit), Taiwan (30,300 unsplit and 6,900 grain split), and Indonesia (11,300 unsplit). Exports of 97,200 hides were 30% below the previous week and 23% under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (28,400 unsplit and 5,100 grain split), Italy (20,600 unsplit and 2,200 grain split), and China (13,700 unsplit and 3,400 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 2,454,700 pounds were 22% below the previous week, but 20% above the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (1,919,600 pounds) and Mexico (220,100 pounds). Exports of 1,907,900 pounds were down 8% from the previous week, but up 35% from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (1,743,900 pounds) and Mexico (162,400 pounds).
