Hides and Skins: Net sales of 644,000 pieces were 10% under the previous week, but 6% over the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 612,300 pieces were primarily for China (291,100 pieces), South Korea (118,300 pieces), and Taiwan (88,300 pieces). Exports of 593,800 pieces were up 6% from the previous week and 15% from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 544,600 pieces were mainly for China (184,900 pieces), South Korea (176,900 pieces), and Taiwan (51,100 pieces).
Net sales of 57,200 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 53% below the previous week and 57% under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (31,200 unsplit), Thailand (8,100 unsplit), Italy (8,100 unsplit), and Mexico (5,400 grain split). Exports of 78,000 hides were 30 percent below the previous week and 38% under the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (22,500 unsplit), Taiwan (14,100 unsplit and 4,000 grain split), and Hong Kong (15,300 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 3,638,900 pounds rebounded from the previous week’s level and the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (1,332,000 pounds, including late reporting of 1,232,000 pounds), Italy (804,800 pounds), China (792,000 pounds--all late reporting), and Mexico (490,000 pounds, including late reporting of 444,000 pounds). Exports of 2,350,200 pounds were two and three-fifths times the previous week and 91% above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (649,900 pounds, including late reporting of 172,000 pounds), Hong Kong (628,600 pounds, including late reporting of 392,400 pounds), Mexico (512,100 pounds, including late reporting of 345,900 pounds), and China (383,800 pounds, including late reporting of 215,400 pounds).
