US export sales for week ending 25/03/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 522,900 pieces were 13 percent above the previous week, but 1 percent under the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 521,600 pieces were primarily for China (191,000 pieces), South Korea (98,000 pieces), and Taiwan (89,700 pieces).  Exports of 465,400 pieces were 14 percent above the previous week and 8 percent over the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 461,800 pieces were mainly for South Korea (139,500 pieces) and China (134,800 pieces).  

 

Net sales of 108,900 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were down 24 percent from the previous week and 8 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (65,000 unsplit), Thailand (13,800 unsplit), and Indonesia (10,200 unsplit).  Exports of 110,300 hides were 1 percent below the previous week, but 7 percent over the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Italy (30,300 unsplit and 100 grain split), Hong Kong (23,600 unsplit), Taiwan (11,600 grain spilt and 6,800 unsplit), South Korea (8,200 grain split and 5,500 unsplit), and China (12,700 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 1,835,200 pounds were 53 percent above the prior week and 37 percent over the previous 4-week average.  The primary buyer was Italy (1,350,200 pounds).  Exports of 1,262,900 pounds were 7 percent above the previous week, but 38 percent under the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Italy (768,100 pounds), Mexico (262,300 pounds), Taiwan (132,500 pounds), and Hong Kong (100,000 pounds).
