Hides and Skins: Net sales of 538,300 pieces were 18 percent below the previous week and 6 percent under the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 537,000 pieces were primarily for South Korea (198,300 pieces, including late reporting of 60,000 pieces), China (162,600 pieces, including late reporting of 42,000 pieces), Taiwan (82,900 pieces, including late reporting of 18,000 pieces), and Thailand (30,400 pieces, including late reporting of 12,600 pieces). Exports of 384,500 pieces were 28 percent under the previous week and 16 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 366,200 pieces were mainly for China (108,900 pieces) and South Korea (91,100 pieces).
Net sales of 76,900 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 48 percent below the previous week and 36 percent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were the Dominican Republic (20,400 grain split), Taiwan (15,600 unsplit), and Mexico (9,900 unsplit and 5,100 grain split). Exports of 89,900 hides were down 2 percent from the previous week, but up 7 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (37,100 unsplit and 4,500 grain split) and Taiwan (7,800 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 1,398,700 pounds were 18 percent above the prior week and 49 percent over the previous 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (703,900 pounds) and Hong Kong (339,200 pounds). Exports of 3,749,900 pounds--a marketing-year high--were 56 percent above the previous week and double the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (1,504,500 pounds), Italy (1,145,300 pounds), Hong Kong (676,800 pounds), and Taiwan (282,900 pounds).
