Hides and Skins: Net sales of 889,900 pieces were two and one-tenth times the previous week and two and two-thirds times the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 819,500 pieces were primarily for South Korea (317,800 pieces), China (239,000 pieces), and Taiwan (76,700 pieces). Exports of 625,500 pieces were 85 percent above the previous week and 74 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 564,100 pieces were mainly for South Korea (288,200 pieces) and China (130,400 pieces).
Net sales of 93,000 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 36 percent below the previous week and 8 percent under the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (36,400 unsplit), Hong Kong (28,600 unsplit), and Italy (17,400 unsplit and 2,000 grain split). Exports of 90,500 hides were up 10 percent from the previous week and 15 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (37,500 unsplit and 3,600 grain split) and Mexico (10,500 unsplit and 6,500 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 220,200 pounds were down 86 percent from the prior week and 77 percent below the previous 4-week average. Major increases for Hong Kong (231,000 pounds) were partially offset by decreases for Indonesia (6,700 pounds) and China (4,100 pounds). Exports of 1,492,900 pounds were 14 percent below the previous week and 4 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (818,700 pounds), Italy (220,000 pounds), Indonesia (143,300 pounds), and Mexico (125,000 pounds).
