US export sales for week ending 15/01/2004

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 542,300 pieces were 65% above the previous week.  Whole cattle hide sales of 481,200 pieces were primarily for China (207,400 pieces), South Korea (142,300 pieces), and Taiwan (41,400 pieces).  Exports of 488,700 pieces were 54% higher than the previous week and 44% above the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 435,400 pieces were mainly for China (149,800 pieces) and South Korea (133,400 pieces).

 

Net sales of 67,900 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 34% below the previous week.  The primary buyers were South Korea (14,400 unsplit and 10,100 grain split), China (20,700 unsplit), and Mexico (10,000 unsplit and 200 grain split).  Exports of 77,000 hides were 17% below the previous week and the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Hong Kong (34,200 unsplit) and Mexico (9,100 grain split and 4,100 unsplit).  Net sales of splits totalling 5,105,700 pounds were 56% above the prior week.  The primary buyers were Mexico (2,710,600 pounds), Italy (1,150,000 pounds), and China (750,000 pounds).  Exports of 2,408,400 pounds were 48% above the previous week and two and one-quarter times the prior 4-week average.  The main destinations were Hong Kong (1,077,700 pounds), China (645,400 pounds), Mexico (375,700 pounds), and Italy (262,600 pounds).
