Hides and Skins: Net sales of 384,900 pieces were down 33% from the previous week and 24% from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 382,700 pieces were primarily for China (160,600 pieces), South Korea (85,600 pieces), and Hong Kong (53,200 pieces). Exports of 390,200 pieces were 44% below the prior week and 30% under the previous 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 374,600 pieces were mainly for China (127,300 pieces), South Korea (97,400 pieces), and Taiwan (31,500 pieces).
Net sales of 87,500 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were nearly two and one-fifth times the prior week and 59% above the previous 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (20,300 unsplit), China (20,200 unsplit), Mexico (9,700 unsplit and 6,800 grain split), and Thailand (8,100 unsplit and 4,000 grain split). Exports of 76,200 hides were up 10% from the previous week, but down 15% from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (28,100 unsplit), Mexico (11,600 grain split and 2,000 unsplit), and Hong Kong (13,100 unsplit). Net sales of splits totalling 2,502,000 pounds were 12% below the previous week, but 49% above the prior 4-week average. The principal buyers were Italy (1,200,000 pounds), China (870,000 pounds), and Mexico (432,400 pounds). Exports of 1,780,900 pounds were 23% below the previous week, but 4% over the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (748,200 pounds), Italy (440,200 pounds), China (246,100 pounds), and Mexico (211,300 pounds).
