Whole cattle hide sales of 323,100 pieces were primarily for China (140,900 pieces) and South Korea (95,000 pieces). Exports of 552,300 pieces were up 10 percent from the week earlier and 7 percent above the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 493,700 pieces were mainly for South Korea (152,800 pieces), China (138,400 pieces), and Hong Kong (54,900 pieces).
Net sales of 90,200 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were down 11 percent from the prior week and 1 percent under the previous 4-week average. The primary buyers were Hong Kong (31,600 unsplit), Taiwan (30,100 unsplit), and Mexico (14,600 grain split and 900 unsplit). Exports of 91,100 hides were 21 percent below the previous week, but 7 percent above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (28,100 unsplit and 200 grain split), Taiwan (23,000 unsplit), Hong Kong (14,900 unsplit and 2,400 grain split), and China (13,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 3,959,700 pounds were three and one-quarter times the previous week’s level and 68 percent above the 4-week average. The dominant buyer was Hong Kong (3,424,400 pounds). Exports of 1,914,700 pounds were 14 percent below the prior week, but 7 percent above the previous 4-week average. Hong Kong (1,020,400 pounds), Italy (575,000 pounds), and South Korea (197,300 pounds) were the primary destinations.
