Hides and Skins: Net sales of 519,300 pieces were 34% above the previous week and 32% higher than the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 485,900 pieces were primarily for China (169,800 pieces), South Korea (134,400 pieces), Japan (65,300 pieces), and Hong Kong (52,100 pieces). Exports of 465,900 pieces were down 13% from the week earlier and the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 436,300 pieces were mainly for China (139,500 pieces), South Korea (115,000 pieces), and Japan (55,700 pieces).
Net sales of 137,900 wet blues (mainly unsplit) were 93% above the prior week and 61% over the previous 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (55,500 unsplit), South Korea (26,000 unsplit and 2,500 grain split), Hong Kong (20,000 unsplit), Taiwan (16,200 unsplit), and Mexico (11,800 unsplit and 3,300 grain split). Exports of 115,900 hides were up 82% from the previous week and 49% above the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Italy (36,000 unsplit and 3,600 grain split), Taiwan (17,900 unsplit), and Hong Kong (13,300 unsplit and 3,100 grain split). Net sales of splits totalling 659,800 pounds were 64% below the previous week and 62% under the 4-week average. The principal buyers were Hong Kong (521,000 pounds) and South Korea (102,500 pounds). Exports of 1,395,500 pounds were two and two-thirds times the prior week, but down 12% from the previous 4-week average. The primary destinations were Hong Kong (651,600 pounds), South Korea (195,500 pounds), and Italy (180,000 pounds).
